Joel Ryder Photography
Joel started in the creative sector back in 2003 backed by the Princes Trust and hasn’t looked back since.
Starting out in a privately ran recording studio in music production and learning to DJ vinyl and cd’s on the side as a hobby, Joel got a taste for the creative industry. In a lucky break Joel was sent on a business trip to New York City
by the recording studio which gave him international experience in dealing with clients and different cultures and backgrounds, as New York has many different and diverse societies.
It wasn’t long before Joel wanted to move on to bigger and better things so with the backing of the Princes Trust Joel started his own events management company and started managing bands, of which he took all over the UK including London’s Leicester Square. The company grew and before long Joel was working on various events including nightclubs, universities, festivals and concerts, for audiences ranging from 100 to 25,000 people and for unsigned artists and signed artists alike. Within this business Joel has worked alongside countless mainstream artists past and present. Joel has also handled regional PR for a UK number one chart hit ‘Thunder In My Heart again by Meck feat Leo Sayer’ in 2006.
Always looking for new challenges and excitement Joel joined the Royal Navy for 3 years as an AB (Able Bodied Seamen) WAR SEA. This gave him new skills in team work and leadership together with the obvious fitness and combat training.
As part of the events work Joel also started photographing and filming some of the events he managed but he was also known as the local phot (photographer) in the Navy as well, improving his skills all the time. All of this mixes together and blossoms in to what he is now as a professional photographer and camera operator.
Just before moving to London Joel was hired by an events company as one of their official photographers. After moving to the bright lights of London Joel got supporting roles in a few films, both feature and independent which he did for a while before being hired by film production company based in the heart of London in Soho, where Joel directed, filmed and photographed.
Joel has had his images and events featured in mainstream publications such as Heat Magazine, Evening Standard, various BBC publications and media and regional press etc.
I hope this gives you a small insight in to Joel's history and skill set.
