A message from The Abbey...
The Abbot's Kitchen will be dressed as Santa's Grotto with Santa and Mother Christmas..
Santa will arrive at The Abbey in a Pony and Trap and will be escorted to the Abbot's Kitchen to meet with the children..
We will have 'cones' of sweets available at £2.00 so children will be able to receive a gift from Santa
-- we would like to have 'Peace and Goodwill' spelled out using candles within the grounds and We are hoping to light the pathway with small tea lights in tea light holders.
- Mayor Ian Tucker will be co-coordinating this. Please bring lanterns or candles in jars to make this happen..
A Willow Lantern parade will be lit at 16.00 in the Abbey, and then process from the Abbey to Abbey park, where a Surprise event is being organised... more about that later..
We will have a choir singing Christmas carols and also hoping to have a brass band playing. There will be a 'decorate your own Christmas tree biscuit' activity for children and we will be selling mince pies, mulled cider, and hot chocolate and chocolate log. We are also hoping to use a medieval fire-pit to roast chestnuts, and these will be for sale.
The workshop for the Lantern parade will be on Saturday 1st December. That will run in the Town Hall from 09.30 until 5.30.
The current cost is £4.00 per lantern to cover the cost of materials.
We have forms for parents to sign to say they will supervise their child for the parade.
