The new centre offers a large flexible space. As well as having the large hall which is ideal for bigger dance nights, there are smaller rooms which can be used for one to one sessions or small group work. One of the most popular features already is the recording studio which will be staffed by students from Southampton University. This a is great facility for young people and something that was specifically requested. The centre offers open access evenings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays evenings. In addition there will be range of other activities and services delivered at the centre. The Council has contributed a substantial £480,000 for the centre and the Youth Opportunities Fund administered by Hampshire County Council has contributed £200,000. Young people were helped by youth workers to apply for this funding and for funding for the recording studio. There has been a big refurbishment project of the building. This has unfortunately taken longer than we had hoped and we have appreciated the patience of the young people in the area The funding cuts announced by the County will not threaten the future of the centre which is key priority for the Council. Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council will work together and will be involved in the future management of the project. Sexual Health drop-ins – for 11 – 25 yr olds and we offer support and information plus free condoms, pregnancy tests and Chlamydia tests.
