Enniskillen Castle, situated beside the River Erne in County Fermanagh, was built almost 600 years ago by Gaelic Maguires. Guarding one of the few passes into Ulster, it was strategically important throughout its history. In the 17th century it became an English garrison fort and later served as part of a military barracks. This historic site houses two museums, Fermanagh County Museum and The Inniskillings Museum.

You'll find an absorbing range of memorabilia including uniforms, signalling instruments, signs, lamps, tableware, timetables, tickets and photographs from the three local railway companies - The Great Northern Railway (Ireland), The Sligo Leitrim & Northern Counties Railway and The Clogher Valley Railway. Established in 2002, with the help of former railway employees and enthusiasts, the museums purpose is to collect, preserve, and interpret local railway heritage for the benefit of the community. This fascinating historical exhibition looks at the impact which railways had on peoples lives. At a time when the local railway station was the gateway to the wider world the exhibition reveals how railways stimulated exports, provided greater access to education, enabled honeymoons to become part of the wedding celebration, encouraged people to go on seaside holidays, and brought a greater variety of goods to the shops. Welcome to Felixstowe Museum's new Facebook page. Our museum houses 14 rooms of artefacts, exhibitions and information which displays the military and social history of this popular seaside resort. Even the building is of historical interest as it was once a submarine mining establishment. Felixstowe Museum is managed by our team of friendly, dynamic volunteers who are always happy to help. Their expertise is second to none and is always delivered with enthusiasm and a passion for history. Our collections are regularly updated and there are new exhibitions each season to enjoy. Exhibitions will be previewed on our website, so check back regularly for updates on what's new. The Museum is currently closed for the winter, but will reopen at Easter on Sunday 8th April. We are located at Landguard Point, adjacent to the Harbour Viewing Area where there is ample free parking. The scheduled hourly Number 77 bus service from Ipswich via Felixstowe to Landguard will deliver you to our gates. You can also reach us by the foot ferry from Harwich and Shotley.
