Cambridge Book & Print Gallery

Cambridge Book & Print Gallery

49, Newnham Road, Cambridge ,
The Cambridge Book & Print Gallery specialises in works on paper by renowned artists: modern original prints by well-known British and International artists, fine drawings and watercolours, as well as rare books, signed copies being a speciality. Here at the Cambridge Book & Print Gallery we maintain that it is possible to combine affordability and quality which is why we only handle work by already highly established artists at realistic prices. We are always happy to advise on all aspects of collecting art and rare books. Charlotte Arnold founded the Cambridge Book & Print Gallery in 2001 with the aim of establishing a gallery that would combine prints, rare books and fine art. Previously, she worked for a number of galleries both in Paris and London and as a specialist at Sotheby's Auctioneers in Bond Street, London. She holds two degrees from Cambridge University: an MA in French and Russian and an M. Phil. in the History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine, for which she wrote a thesis on the scientific library of Joseph Banks. Charlotte's particular areas of interest within the broad field of book collecting are signed modern first editions, rare inscribed, dedicated or 'association' copies, and artist's reference books. She also has a wide-ranging interest in British and European printmaking and drawing from the nineteenth century to the present day. We are not able to include illustrations of every single print or book from the large range of material we hold in stock, so it is always worthwhile letting us know what particular artist's work or author's book you are looking for. However, please check our site for current stock to get the flavour of what we do. New prints and books are added to our site on a weekly basis. A totally independent gallery and bookseller with a reputation for quality, we have placed books, prints and drawings all over the world to both private and institutional collections, including the BBC, The Rare Book library at UCLA and a number of specialist dealers. We aim to give a totally personal service and are always happy to make suggestions for gift ideas and help you to find something to suit a budget or to suggest gift ideas. We do not give informal telephone advice or valuations of books or prints.

The Christopher Song Archive

The Christopher Song Archive

Municipal Buildings, The Moor,, Falmouth ,
Christopher Song was an inventor and explorer from Falmouth, Cornwall born in the mid 19th century and reported missing in April 1914. Song had a long history of exploration and experimentation, and in this archive we hold a collection of objects and papers linked to these experiments. The fact Christopher Song is not better known outside of Falmouth is a mystery, and we hope that with time this great man will become better known, and our aim to have a blue plaque on the wall of The Poly dedicated to him will be realised. Please note the archives held in The Cornish Studies collection will be open Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri, Sat pm when archivists are available.
